A species of shark rarely seen alive because its natural habitat is about 2,000 feet under the sea was captured by staff at a Japanese marine park early last year.
The Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka, south of Tokyo, was alerted by a fisherman at a nearby port that he had spotted an odd-looking eel-like creature with a mouthful of needle-sharp teeth.
The shark was captured on film, just before it died. Video: Frilled Shark
Marine experts identified the 1.6 meter creature as a frilled shark, sometimes referred to as a "living fossil" because it has not changed since prehistoric times. "We have found remains of these frilled sharks in the earth's layer that are over 80 million years old", one expert claimed. This would mean that for 80 million years these sharks have not evolved at all! If evolution is true and has worked for other species, it begs the question "did evolution forget about the frilled shark"?
Of course, this confirms christians' faith that God created all things "very good" in the first place (with the built-in ability to survive and adapt, but not evolve).
This is not the only example of a living creature that has shown little or no change over 'millions' of years. For more information on living fossils and other examples visit http://www.nwcreation.net/fossilsliving.html
